What's new

Changelog

What has changed in qStack, newest first.

  1. Improved

    Choose when a matchup plays

A matchup now has a When: their turn, as before, or the 1st, 2nd or 3rd game from now, ahead of the line. Change it on the matchup at any time without losing its place.

Play next adds the matchup as the very next game in one tap.

  2. Improved

Switch payment off for a free session

Collect payment, under Fee in the settings, hides the fee, how to pay, your QR and the paid ticks from the board and Courtside in one go. Your fee and QR are kept, so turning it back on next week is one tap.

  3. New

Run the Courtside TV from your phone

With Courtside open, the speaker button on a court or an Up next group calls those names on the TV instead of your phone. You can also turn the TV's sound on and off from the board.

When several courts start at once, the TV calls them together in one announcement instead of talking over itself.

  4. New

Get a buzz when you're next

Players can ask the board to buzz their phone when their group is up next, and again when a game puts them on a court, with the court number. Nobody misses their game because they went to buy water.

Turn it on from your own board under the line. On an iPhone, add qStack to your Home Screen first and open it from there; that is the only way iPhones allow it.

  5. New

Messages, time limits and the court fee

Post a message to the room from the settings, like "last games at 9:30". It sits at the top of everyone's board and scrolls across Courtside.

Give games a time limit. Each court counts down, turns amber near the end and red once it's over, on the board and on the TV. Nothing ends on its own; it just stops the argument.

Set the fee and add your GCash or Maya QR from a screenshot. Players see how to pay on their board and can save the QR straight into their wallet app, the TV shows it beside the join code, and you tick people off as paid from the line. Only you see who hasn't paid.

  6. New

Courtside calls people up, and one TV can show several boards

When a game goes on, Courtside puts the names and the court up big for a few seconds. Turn sound on and it chimes, then reads out the court and the four names, so the room hears it as well as sees it. Call again (or C) repeats the last one, and tapping a court calls that one.

No TV? Tap the speaker button on your board and your phone reads out each game as it starts, through a speaker if you have one. Announce on a court or an Up next group reads that one out on the spot: "Next up: Ana and Marco, versus Bea and Paolo. Get ready."

Running more than one board? Show them side by side on one TV, up to four, from the board switcher or the start page.

  7. New

Your recap, and last week again in one tap

When a session ends, every player gets a recap card to share: their record, their best streak, time on court, and who they won most with.

Running the same open play every week? Run it again from the end of last week's board or the start page. The courts, the style and the names come back, and you tick off who turned up.

  8. New

Open play on the venue's Courtogo page

Hosts who work at a venue on Courtogo can link their board to it from the settings. While the board is running, the venue's page says open play is on now, with a link to follow it.

  9. New

Courtside: the board on a TV

Put the board on a TV at the venue so everyone can see who's on, who's next and where they are in line without crowding round the host's phone. Names are big enough to read across the hall, and it updates by itself.

Open it with the Courtside button at the top of the board, from the share sheet, or type the board's address with /tv on the end into the TV's browser. A QR code on screen lets people join the line from their seats, and the final standings come up when the session ends.

  10. New

    qStack has its own home

qStack now lives at qstack.courtogo.com, with its own homepage, step-by-step tutorials, an FAQ and this page.

Board links are shorter too: a board is just the address and its code, like qstack.courtogo.com/K7MP2Q, which is easier to read off a wall and quicker to type.

Every old courtogo.com/queue link and QR code still works. The first time a phone opens one, the boards it was running come along with it, so hosts keep their controls without doing anything.

You can add qStack to your home screen as an app of its own.

  11. New

Lock the phone before you pass it around

Handing the phone to whoever just came off court? Lock it with a passcode first. While it is locked, anyone holding it can record who won, start the next game, switch partners and sit a player out. Swapping players, changing the line and the settings ask for the passcode.

The lock covers every board on the phone, not just the one that is open.

  12. Improved

Taps are kept when the connection drops

If the gym wifi drops, the board keeps your taps on the phone and sends them when it is back. It now says when it is holding taps it has not managed to send yet, so you know whether everyone else is seeing the same thing.

Those taps survive a reload, and a phone that is slow to answer about its own storage no longer loses the session.

  13. Improved

    A cleaner board

The board has a new look: paper-coloured cards and buttons that read as keys, with nothing blurred behind anything.

  14. New

Put a requested matchup on the next free court

When players ask for a particular game, a host can now send it to the next court that comes free instead of waiting for the rotation to get there.

A requested pair at the very end of the line no longer stops the board.

  15. Improved

    More flexible matchups

A player can be in more than one requested matchup at a time, a matchup can be asked for as a run of games, and a matchup already asked for can be edited.

The court now says "Partnered before" when two people on the same side have played together already, not only the Up next list.

  16. Fixed

Games count even without a winner

Boards that do not record results now count the games everyone has played, so the standings are no longer empty.

  17. Fixed

    No more instant reruns

The board no longer puts the same four straight back on the court they just came off.

  18. Improved

    Host controls answer straight away

A host's taps show on the board immediately instead of waiting for the server to reply, which on slow wifi was most of the wait.

  19. New

    Boards open with no internet

A board this phone has opened before now opens even with no signal at all, and keeps working until the connection comes back.

Dark mode now reaches every part of the board.

  20. Improved

Settings mid-session, and your running boards

Change how people are paired up while the session is running, and find every board you have on the go from the start page.

  21. New

    Co-hosts and scores

Invite a co-host by email, or send them a co-host link, and they get the same controls on their own phone.

Record scores as well as winners, and delete a board you no longer need.

  22. New

    Fixed partners and a leaderboard

Lock two players together so they always play on the same side, arrange teams yourself when you want to, and share a leaderboard at the end of the night.

A player who just came off is no longer put straight back on, and somebody who has been waiting longer is weighted to catch up.

  23. New

    qStack launches

A rotation board for open play: put the names in, say how many courts you have, and the board decides who plays next. Share the code and everyone can follow it on their own phone.
